We present to you a suggested lesson plan for Memorial Day, based on remarkable excerpts from the book One Day in October, focusing on three different themes accompanied by guiding questions. You are welcome to download the files. Each file contains excerpts from the book on the first two pages, and guiding questions on the third page.

Suggested approach: You can use the guiding questions as cards, dividing the class into different stations—a “Hero’s Dilemma” station, a “Never Give Up” station, and a “Crazy Hero” station. These stations are essentially tables with the corresponding page and cards. Participants will be divided into groups, moving between the stations with their group, reading the excerpts, and then discussing the questions from the cards.
