Due to events she experienced in her childhood, Amit dreamt of becoming a doctor. At age twenty-one, Amit was certified as a paramedic, and at twenty-two, she became the youngest paramedic course instructor in the country. On the morning of the massacre, her friends called and begged her to flee Be’eri, but Amit decided to stay. On her own initiative, she fortified herself in the clinic in Be’eri and treated many wounded for hours, almost entirely alone, while members of the emergency response team covered the clinic. When the emergency response team ran out of ammunition and the terrorists managed to break in, she was killed.
