Ido successfully passed the tryouts for the pilots training course, but ultimately decided to enlist with his friends into tanks. He fell in love with tanks. On the day of the massacure, Ido was stationed at the Yiftah Outpost. When the battle at the outpost began, Ido and his fellow soldier, Yuval, decided to leave the bomb shelter and fight, despite not having the training for being combat soldiers, as their training was only for tanks. Ido fought without a helmet, wearing only flip-flops, and managed to kill the terrorists and save those in the base. Thanks to them, no one was killed or abducted on his base.
