Awad grew up in the village of Iksal to a Muslim family and was the pride of his family, who surrounded him with deep love. Awad dreamt of becoming a doctor. He started studying medicine in Georgia but had to return to Israel due to COVID-19. In the meantime, he occasionally worked as a paramedic and he was working during the Nova Festival. When the shooting began, Awad helped other paramedics escape but refused to flee himself. He stayed to save the wounded, some of whom survived thanks to him. He was eventually shot and killed.
