Eran, a forty-five-year-old resident of Kiryat Ata, had retired from military service a year and a half before the massacre. On the day of the massacre, he decided on his own to put on his uniform and drive from Kiryat Ata to the south. In Moshav Patish, he fought against terrorists, helped set up a command center for the Nova Festival survivors while everyone thought he was an army representative, calming them and managing the situation. He finally reached the festival site just after there was no one left to save. Afterwards, he took it upon himself to evacuate bodies for hours. The video he filmed at the Nova site, repeatedly calling out “Is anyone here alive?” while seeing only bodies, became viral.
