Since he was a teenager, Yehonatan had a unique life path connected to nature and the land of Israel. When Yehonatan became a commander of the Nahal Reconnaissance Battalion, he knew he would do everything to protect his soldiers. On the morning of the massacre, he drove towards the fighting. On the way, he communicated over the radio with everyone possible, moved forces, and warned soldiers not to enter the inferno when they had no chance. When he reached Ma’on Junction, he saw terrorist’ on the road, ambushing and shooting at anyone that would pass by. At that moment, he decided to stop the terrorists at all costs, knowing it would cost him his own life.
